Autumn Evening Talks from the Criminal Law Week and the CBA

Criminal Law Week and the Criminal Bar Association will be holding an online series of evening talks in Autumn 2024, given by leading experts on topics relevant to the everyday practice of junior barristers.
All talks take place at 18.00hrs on Zoom.

Tuesday 8th October 2024 – Master Alix Beldam (the Registrar of Criminal Appeals) and Paul Taylor KC.
‘Early days in the CACD: A guide to the basics’
Master Alix Beldam (the Registrar of Criminal Appeals) was called to the Bar in 1981 by Inner Temple and became a Bencher of her Inn in 2019. She worked for the Court of Appeal Criminal Division for 25 years as a casework lawyer and then as a Senior Legal Manager and Deputy Registrar. She was appointed as Registrar of Criminal Appeals and Master of the Crown Office in 2019. She has spoken about the practice and procedure of the court at seminars and conferences and is co-author of the Court of Appeal Criminal Division: A Practitioner’s Guide. She is also a contributing editor to Archbold.
Paul Taylor KC is a member of 5 King’s Bench Walk, Paul specialises in criminal appeals. He is head of the 5KBW Criminal Appeal Unit, and the general editor of Taylor on Criminal Appeals, the leading practitioners’ textbook for those involved with a potential criminal appeal or judicial review. It provides a detailed guide to appellate practice and procedure.
