The aim of the talk will be to provide a practical guide to understanding and developing your practice at the Criminal Bar and getting the most out of effective Practice Management Reviews.
- This webinar is open to all members of the Criminal Bar Association (all calls) and clerks and practice managers.
- Practice Management Reviews are key in assisting the development of practices of individual barristers in conjunction with the support of clerking and practice management teams.
- This webinar provides expert advice from Rachel Krys at the Bar Council on practice management reviews and Toolkits. The webinar will cover best practice models to assist in helping barristers develop and seek support in practice growth.
- Toolkits and effective practice management reviews also provide positive and constructive means of tackling sensitive issues such as disparity of earnings at the Bar and form part of the key recommendations set out in the Bar Council’s Race at the Bar report of December 2024 and the February 2024 Bar Council report on ‘Gross earnings by sex and practice area at the self-employed Bar 2024.

Speaker: Rachel Krys (Bar Council)
Rachel Krys is an Equality & Diversity Consultant. Rachel has been a consultant to the Bar Council Equality Diversity and Inclusion team since 2019 supporting projects to improve the retention and progression of women and under-represented groups at the Bar. Rachel delivers equality, fair recruitment, mentoring and harassment training for the Bar Council and bespoke consultancy for chambers. Rachel has been an equality and human rights campaigner for more than two decades and has worked with large and small employers to tackle discrimination, analyse, and improve equality outcomes and promote inclusion.
