Mapping the Changing Face of Cross-Examination in Criminal Trials

We are delighted to invite criminal practitioners to join us for an evening reception for the launch of our Report, Mapping the Changing Face of Cross-Examination in Criminal Trials, at the Nuffield Foundation on Thursday 1st February 2024. The evening will provide an opportunity to meet the research team and discuss the key findings and recommendations from this important research project.

Over a three year period, the research team mapped the nature and extent of ongoing changes to criminal advocacy, identified a range of practices and issues, and has sought to develop appropriate solutions through a series of recommendations. As the first study of its kind, the project not only analysed how new approaches towards cross-examination have produced change on the ground, but are also making a real difference in terms of effecting cultural change within the legal profession to the questioning of vulnerable witnesses.

Our colleagues and friends across the academic, practitioner, and policy communities have always played a major role in our success, and the evening is also an opportunity to acknowledge your support on contributing to our research.
