Chair’s Update:
Francis FitzGibbon QC

General Election
Though nothing new will emerge until after the election, we will continue to engage with the government on matters that affect the criminal Bar during the next six weeks. Whatever the new administration looks like, we will never let it forget that criminal justice and all those who serve it need to be valued and respected.

HMCTS have confirmed, in a letter to the Local Implementation Teams, that the ‘Flexible Operating Hours’ pilot scheme will not be starting until after the general election.

Well-Being
On 8th May, the Bar Representation Committee is holding a Well-Being Event at  Lincoln’s Inn Old Hall.

The speakers and panel members include Rachel Spearing, Chair of Wellbeing at the Bar Working Group, Charlotte May QC, Nicholas Peacock, Sam Mercer, Nick Hill and Dr. Chang Park.

The closing address will be given by the Rt Hon. Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, President of the Supreme Court and Treasurer of Lincoln’s Inn.
The event will be followed by a reception where participants are encouraged to reflect on the issues raised.
